VENERABLES THORPENESS TOUR 2023
This week saw the Venerable’s arrive at the Thorpeness Hotel and Golf club to take part in our annual three days of golf on the Spring Tour, which we have participated in for over twenty years. The weather was idyllic over all three days and the combination of newbies and seasoned campaigners made it perfect for the social side, with new tales being told and friendships forged. We asked David Baker to organise a putting competition which had the eventual winner of Mr Watts. A ‘well done’ should go to David for thinking up the competition format with expert implementation. As usual the service in the hotel could not be faulted and the dinner menu had something for everyone to enjoy. Our thanks goes to Steve Board for being our tour photographer, and l‘m excited to see how as usual Dave Sephton will do them justice on our Web Site. Special thanks goes to Steve King for looking after the order of play and recording the results and announcing the winners (listed below ). Not a task for the faint hearted, he was ably assisted by Dave Watts. Without fear of contradiction l can pronounce this years tour a success with everyone coming away wanting to, “God willing”, do it all again next year. This has been tentatively booked with Thorpeness for the 7th, to the 9th of May 2024 please put this on your calendar.
