Twenty two Venerables attended this years Autumn tour, a 2 nights and 3 rounds of golf event at Hellidon Lakes near Daventry. We visited this location a few years ago and quite frankly, I think we had all forgotten how hilly the course is.

Having all arrived in good time for the first days golf, we set off for our warm up event anticipating a few heavy showers. On day 1 those nice weather people were as good as their word, and we all manfully carried on through the occasional heavy shower. A good day with some decent scores to be had.

A splendid meal in the evening where over a glass or two of red, we all had the opportunity to explain how we were robbed of a better score by the difficulty of the greens and some deviously placed hazards on various parts of the course.

Day 2 was the first round of the competition proper, and in spite of another gloomy weather forecast we were treated to a warm, dry day, which was bound to bring forth some much improved scores. Unfortunately, with a couple of exceptions, this was not the case. However, another enjoyable days golf.

Another excellent meal on Wednesday evening, with wine on the table provided by our 'birthday boy' Tony Leigh, which was much appreciated by all.

Day 3, the second round of the competition for the Autumn trophy was again completed in (almost) dry conditions, with again a mixed bag of scores.
