Spring Away Day at Gosfield Lakes on Friday 11th April 2025
UNDER CONSTRUCTION

A new venue hosted us for the 2024 Winter Away Day. St Neots Golf club was the venue for last years CAGU match which we enjoyed so much that Steve King was asked to arrange a deal for our Winter Away day and we were not disappointed.
On a blustery but sunny day 20 Vens played a very scenic but quite challenging golf course, we were lucky that the course was dry but the fairways lush with grass due recent heavy rainfall.
The post game meal was excellent featuring home made steak mushroom and ale pie followed by apple crumble and custard and based on the large gratuity that we left everyone enjoyed the meal.
The dining room was very pleasant and the staff friendly. After the meal I overheard the serving staff saying what a friendly group we all were, which is nice to hear.
As usual with a new course the scoring was moderate, the nearest the pin in two prize went unclaimed so we will carry the prize over to another event.
Many thanks go to Steve King for organising such a great day out, Dave Watts for helping verify the scores, Andrew Wyatt for the photographs and Dave Sephton for creating this webpage.

Today was the first of this years away days which on this occasion was at Chesfield Downs.
Those who were lucky enough to attend showed great enthusiasm and comaradiry throughout the day.
It appears that Lady Luck was smiling down on us as we managed to miss the rain just as the last group came in. However, she was not so accomodating when it came to the strong winds which may have hampered many of us on this excellent course.
Steve King's persistence awarded us a private room in which to socialise, indulge in our delicious two course meal whilst also affording us privacy for the speeches and presentations.
I would like to thank Dave Watts for scrutinising the cards (nobody does it better), and Dave Sephton for being today's photographer, and publishing on our website. However, our biggest thanks must go to our Competition Secretary Steve King who organised the venue and completed the administration. It is fair to say, he always goes the extra mile.
Last but not least, l would like to acknowledge all the Vens that attended today and made it another memorable Away Day.
