The annual Venerables V Heydon Ladies match was blessed with warm dry (albeit a bit muggy) weather.
The 8 pairs of Venerables pitted their golfing prowess against the ladies team in, as always, a keen but good spirited competition.
This match is a much anticipated event in our calendar, borne out by the friendly social interaction that took place over our post-match repast of sandwiches and chips.
The ladies triumphed on this occasion winning the match 5 ½ - 2 ½ and received the Ilyas Akhtar Trophy, this year presented by Saleem.

Annual Venerables V Heydon Ladies Match 18th August 2021 (Vens away)
playing for the Ilyas Akhtar Trophy
On a mild(ish), breezy(ish) day 15 ladies aided and abetted by Cyril, and 16 Ven's, set forth for the annual battle for the Ilyas Akhtar trophy.. Half way round there was not a 'fag' paper between the teams with most being either all square or just one hole difference.
A hard fought match which appears to have been enjoyed by all participants, and the final score really didn't do justice to both teams. The Ven's were the final winners by a
score of 6 - 2.
An excellent day for both teams which was rounded off in the clubhouse with some rather tasty sandwiches and chips.
